Job Title Audio signal processing and coding supporting standardisation Job Description You will be part of Intellectual Property & Standards, a Philips business that optimizes IP assets and provides counselling to support innovation and new business opportunities – for Philips and others. You will join the “Digital Standardization & Licensing Research” department with presence in The Netherlands and the US . Within this group, we provide technology options for innovations in both the professional health and well-being, as in the consumer domain. We actively contribute to the creation of consumer and industry standards, and we further mature ideas and technologies in close collaboration with internal and external partners. With this vacancy, we intend to strengthen our audio expertise in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. You will be part of our research team of audio experts. Your role Driving the creation of novel audio codecs . This involves the ideation, implementation and evaluation of audio processing algorithms. Creating standard essential patents within the framework of international standardization bodies, such as MPEG and 3GPP. Test driven design to ensure that your implementations deliver the desired audio experience. Play an active role in the standardization of the audio codecs under development. Your profile: PhD, or MSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering (Software, Computer, Electrical, Electronics/Communications etc.). Creative team player with experience in Audio Digital Signal Processing algorithm development. Pragmatic, hands-on researcher, exploring the merit of novel ideas within the context of audio standardization. Experienced in python and C/C++ programming. Understanding of audio (compression) codecs is a pre (such as MP3, AAC, aacPlus, EVS, and more recently for immersive audio: MPEG-H and Dolby Atmos), AR/VR, audio rendering, acoustics simulation, speech cleanup. Affinity with the process of drafting invention disclosures is preferable. Interest in active participation/ supporting role, within Audio standardization bodies.
