Summary The MIL Corporation is seeking an Audio/Visual (A/V) Engineer (Engineering, Senior Associate) for a remote position supporting a customer in Ridgecrest, CA. The individual in this position will provide technical design, installation support, and testing support for audio-visual equipment and systems. The person who fills this role will provide experience and leadership for the overall analysis, design, and operation of complex video systems supporting the DoD. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of both broadcast Serial Digital Interface (SDI) systems and Internet Protocol (IP)-based A/V technologies, video walls, and video infrastructure components. This position currently requires a remote schedule. Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements. Responsibilities Design and implement A/V and broadcast systems including video/audio routers, signal processors, encoders/decoders, recorders, servers, and associated infrastructure. Develop and maintain detailed documentation including functional diagrams, cable block diagrams, cable running lists, and standard operating procedures. Perform market research, evaluate, and specify A/V components and cables for purchase. Provide project technical leadership to other A/V engineers. Coordinate with cross-functional teams (IT, Production, Facilities) to deliver solutions. Troubleshoot complex technical issues. Ensure all systems meet regulatory, quality, and safety standards (e.g., FCC compliance). Travel Approximately 10% of the time, from remote/home location to Ridgecrest, CA. Required Qualifications 10+ years of hands-on experience in broadcast engineering, A/V systems integration, or live production In-depth knowledge of video/audio standards: SDI, HDMI, IP Video (SMPTE 2110, NDI, SRT), AES/EBU, Dante Expertise in configuring and troubleshooting routers, switchers, intercom systems, audio consoles, and streaming encoders Familiarity with broadcast automation, asset management systems, and remote contribution workflows Strong networking knowledge (IP addressing, VLANs, multicast, QoS) Desired Qualifications Certifications: CTS, SBE, Dante Level II/III, or similar Experience with Utah Scientific, PESA, Cobalt, Extron, Ross, and AJA video equipment Comfortable working in high-pressure, live production environments Education Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Electrical Engineering, Broadcast Engineering, Media Technology, or equivalent. Additional 10 years of experience may be substituted for Bachelor’s degree. Clearance All applicants for this position must have a Secret clearance and be able to obtain a Top-Secret clearance; please note that the clearance process takes into account financial background aspects. This estimate represents the typical salary range and is just one part of MIL’s complete compensation package.
