Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Title: Audio Visual (AV) Design Lead
Location: Toronto, ON
Department: Workplace Technology & Collaboration
Reports To: Senior Manager, AV Technology
Position Summary
The AV Design Lead is a hybrid role combining deep technical expertise in AV systems with agile project leadership. This individual will lead the design and delivery of AV solutions across enterprise environments while also serving as a Scrum Master and technical project lead. The role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to leverage tools like Power BI and Excel to drive data-informed decisions and reporting. This role will support financial planning and forecasting responsibilities for AV hardware lifecycle management, live event support, and advanced Audio-Visual Technology troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design of AV systems for meeting rooms, collaboration spaces, and specialty environments.
  • Design and oversee buildouts of complex video conferencing rooms using Cisco Webex and Microsoft Teams Rooms, ensuring seamless integration with enterprise collaboration platforms.
  • Act as Scrum Master for AV-related agile teams, facilitating sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming.
  • Serve as technical project lead for AV deployments, coordinating with IT, facilities, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Technical lead for new AV hardware assessments, testing and certification efforts
  • Collaborate closely with Architects of Record (AORs), enterprise real estate teams, and all internal Products & Technology (P&T) teams to ensure AV designs are aligned with architectural, infrastructure, and workplace strategies.
  • Work directly with AV consultants and AV integrators to ensure all designs and implementations adhere to TD AVT standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and live event support for high-profile productions such as Town Halls, executive broadcasts, and large-scale webinars.
  • Act as an escalation point for AVT Level 2 (L2) and Unified Communications Infrastructure (UCI) Day 2 support, as well as the Build and Release team, serving as an AVT Level 3 (L3) Subject Matter Expert.
  • Collaborate with third-party AV integrators to troubleshoot and resolve complex AV issues across the enterprise.
  • Validate proposed AV design scopes of work and determine budgets for AV hardware and labor—including both internal and external resources—accounting for green and brown dollar allocations.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable AV solutions aligned with enterprise standards and technology roadmaps.
  • Develop and review technical documentation including schematics, BOMs, and system diagrams.
  • Use Power BI and Excel to track project metrics, generate dashboards, and support executive reporting.
  • Forecast, plan, and manage the annual financial budget for currency refresh of end-of-life (EOL) and end-of-support (EOS) video conferencing hardware.
  • Collaborate with procurement and finance teams to ensure timely replacement of aging AV infrastructure.
  • Ensure AV designs meet security, accessibility, and sustainability standards.
  • Support testing, commissioning, and post-deployment optimization of AV systems.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in AV design and integration, with at least 2 years in a Scrum Master or technical project lead role.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering complex AV environments using Cisco Webex and Microsoft Teams Rooms technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of AV technologies including Crestron, SHURE, QSC, Samsung VXT, YCD, and other digital signage platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with SHURE Designer and QSC audio programming for system configuration and tuning.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams Admin Center (TAC), Teams Room Pro Management Portal, Microsoft Azure, Cisco Control Hub, and NEAT Pulse for AV device management, monitoring, and analytics.
  • Experience with agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira).
  • Proficiency in Power BI and Excel for data analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with AV design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, or D-Tools.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • CTS or CTS-D equivalent certification preferred.
