POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Audio-Visual Specialist works under the Audio-Visual Services department and is responsible for overseeing the Audio-Visual Center, supporting work study students, and assisting with classroom Audio-Visual support. This position supports the AVS Supervisor and Manager in maintaining all AV related services. This is an 8:00 am to 4:00 pm position but the candidate must be willing to work a flexible schedule including some early mornings, late evenings and weekends as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum associates Degree in related field. BA degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Documented experience in audio-visual, video production or photography skills.
  • A preferred general working knowledge of video and photographic equipment including digital cameras, video cameras, portable sound equipment; projection systems, and various AV connections as related to production set ups.
  • Experience with asset control systems or asset management systems desired but not necessary.
  • Outstanding organizational, customer relations, and communication skills required.
  • Ability to take independent initiative and efficiently manage time devoted to multiple projects with changing priorities required.
  • Experience with Mac and PC computers for classroom/boardroom AV environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Keynote, Excel, and Word.
  • Experience with Adobe Suite specific to video and photo editing.
  • Able to work effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment.
  • Previous experience in an Academic or Corporate environment desired but not required.
Responsibilities
  • Assist operations in the Audio-Visual Centers.
  • Assist with setting up equipment for use in classrooms and studios.
  • Enforce policies and procedures for work-study, students, faculty, and staff.
  • Oversee work study students in the Audio-Visual Center.
  • Support student, faculty, and classroom needs.
  • Insure that all AVC equipment is appropriately stored before closing each evening.
  • Maintain all student and faculty reservations for equipment via our online checkout and reservation system.
  • Maintain lists of students who have late fees, replacement fees, or are unable to check out equipment in the AVC.
  • Support the AVS Department in loss, damage, or theft prevention strategy.
  • Maintain and update the asset inventory list as required.
  • Monitor the Help Desk and respond to AV related tickets as required.
  • Assist with AV set up for student exhibition i.e. projection, TVs, and cable management strategy.
  • Assist with the creation and updating of documentation, guides and “how-to” instructional video production.
  • Work professionally with a range of colleagues including, students, faculty, executives and guest.
  • Assess and label defective equipment and communicate problems to manager.
  • Proactively solve technical problems with constant attention to process improvement.
  • Mentor and provide oversight of AVC work-study students to ensure policy process and procedure consistency.
  • Assist the AVS Supervisor and Manager as required.
