Description Pine Tree Society is looking to hire a full time Audiologist who will be responsible for performing audiological evaluations for adults and children. Essential Responsibilities: Determines degree and origin of hearing loss by performing and interpreting complete, comprehensive audiological evaluations with diagnostic equipment; when indicated, recommends medical intervention, habilitative strategies, amplification and/or assistive listening devices. Dispenses and fits hearing aids consistent with the rules and regulations provided by the State of Maine Board of Speech, Audiology and Hearing. Instructs clients on use and care of hearing instruments, provides aural rehabilitation counseling, obtains functional gain measurements and aided speech discrimination scores, obtains real ear measurements and administers functional outcome measures as necessary. Ensures that client and/or parent expresses an understanding of test results and exhibits agreement with action plans by providing counseling and determining and explaining the need for rehabilitation and/or medical management; makes appropriate related recommendations to clients, parents, physicians and other service providers, and provides appropriate documentation. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by participating in in-service training, attending educational workshops and courses, reading, discussions with team members and participating in professional societies. Ensures efficient, responsive client services by participating in the decisions regarding services, pricing and scheduling. Assists in maintaining a high level of service provision by determining annual goals and objectives for quality assurance; completes related data collection and reports. Requirements Qualifications; knowledge, skills and abilities: Ability to accurately assess a client's current hearing capabilities. Knowledge of programmable and digital hearing aid products. Ability to effectively communicate with and educate, formally and informally, clients, parents, other service providers and the general public. Ability to diagnose and repair minor problems with hearing aid products. Ability to work both independently and as part of a treatment team. Demonstrated knowledge of and demonstrated competency in the use of computer-based accounting, spreadsheet, word processing and computer network utilization. Ability to organize time effectively and remain flexible in order to meet occasionally competing demands requiring time and attention. Must pass all required background checks including, but not limited to: motor vehicle, criminal, Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, US DHHS Fraud Prevention and Protection (OIG) and MaineCare background checks.
