Audiology Assistant 4607-RH Hearing Center Schedule: Day Shift. 25 hours. M,W,F 8am-5pm About the Position: Under the direction of the licensed Doctors of Audiology and Practice Manager after appropriate training and demonstration of competency, performs duties that are prescribed, directed, and supervised by a certified and/or licensed audiologist. The role of assistant leads to an increase in productivity by reducing wait times, enhancing patient satisfaction, and reducing costs by performing those skills that do not require the licensed audiologist. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Perform routine tasks and clinical duties so that the audiologist is available for the more complex evaluative, diagnostic, management, and treatment required by the level of education and training of a licensed audiologist. • Audiology Assistants are regulated by state regulations and fall under the responsibility of the supervising audiologist who determines the applicable requirements for the assistant in the specific work setting. This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and can be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities that management deems necessary. Education and Experience: • Education Required: High school diploma/GED and 1-2 years of experience in healthcare • Experience Preferred: College Degree and previous work exposure in healthcare related field Licensure and Certification • Complete Nova Southeastern University Audiologist’s Assistant certification modules of Amplification and Diagnostics. To be complete within 1 year of hire while on the job. Position Specific Competencies: • Escort patients to proper room for testing and complete rooming process. • Instructing patients on proper use and care of hearing aids and other amplification devices. • Instructing patients on proper ear hygiene. • Assisting audiologists in treatment programs. • Assisting audiologists with appointment setup and technical tasks. • Preparing materials for ear impressions. • Performing nondiagnostic otoscopy. • Preparing the patient for VNG/ENG or evoked testing (ABR/ ASSR). • Assisting audiologists in hearing testing of pediatric patients • Complete/finalize all hearing aid fitting appointments with hearing aid orientation for the patient. • Ordering earmolds and devices, completing device repairs, and manufacturer/lab returns • Performing checks on hearing aids and other amplification devices. • Performing troubleshooting and minor repairs to hearing aids, ear molds, and other amplification devices. • Cleaning hearing aids and other amplification devices. • Maintaining NOAH database for management of hearing aid patients. • Interacting with hearing instrument manufacturers/suppliers regarding status of orders/repairs. • Performing daily biologic listening checks of equipment. • Maintaining inventories of supplies and checking function of equipment maintaining and restocking test and treatment rooms. • Scan and file all paperwork for the department daily. • Complete chart prep for each patient in advance of visit. • Answer patient questions received via telephone and in-basket.
