OVERVIEW

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Audio-Visual (AV) Technician to join our team, responsible for supporting a variety of smaller to mid-level events. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in audio, lighting, and computer systems, with a working knowledge of live streaming technologies. As an AV Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring seamless technical execution of events by setting up, operating, and troubleshooting AV equipment.

EXPERIENCE

  • Strong working knowledge of audio and lighting systems, as well as computer-based AV technology.
  • Experience with live streaming equipment and platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, YouTube Live, Zoom, vMix, etc.).
  • Familiarity with common AV software tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Adobe video editing software).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues under pressure.
  • Ensuring all AV equipment is set up properly and functions correctly during events.
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members, clients, and vendors.
  • Ability to lift and carry AV equipment, as well as set up and break down gear for events.
  • Previous experience working in AV for live events or conferences.
    This position requires flexibility with work scope changes as well as professional onsite customer service.
    Candidates do not have to live near Fort St. John. Will fly in the right person for each event as necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, test, and operate audio equipment including microphones, mixers, speakers, and amplifiers.
  • Assist with sound checks and troubleshoot audio issues during events.
  • Adjust audio levels to ensure optimal sound quality throughout events.
  • Configure and operate lighting equipment such as spotlights, LED lights, and color-changing lights.
  • Program and adjust lighting cues for different types of events (conferences, presentations, performances).
  • Ensure proper placement of lights and manage lighting during live events.
  • Set up laptops, projectors, screens, and other digital displays for presentations.
  • Provide technical support for presentations, including managing slides, videos, and multimedia content.
  • Ensure smooth operation of event software, including but not limited to PowerPoint, video players, and other relevant applications.
  • Assist in setting up live streaming equipment (cameras, encoders, microphones, etc.) for virtual events.
  • Monitor the streaming platform to ensure a seamless viewer experience.
  • Troubleshoot any issues related to the stream, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Arrive early to event venues for setup and stay for teardown after the event concludes.
  • Perform pre-event system checks and resolve any technical issues before and during the event.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve AV-related issues in real-time during events.
  • Provide on-site support to clients and attendees, ensuring technical aspects run smoothly.
