Role overview
The Audit Assistant Manager will be the key member of the Business Advisory Services Department. They will be the first point of contact for the client during fieldwork and will be responsible for managing and assisting the audit team on-site. They will also be responsible for keeping management up to date on the status of the audit.
Job description
As an Audit Assistant Manager, your key responsibilities will include;
- Acting as a key day-to-day point of contact for clients during the audit process, identifying audit issues and opportunities to add value.
- Conducting background research and preliminary assessments to identify key audit risks and tailor the audit approach accordingly.
- Assessing the clients’ systems and internal controls to determine their reliability for audit testing purposes, identifying control weaknesses and making practical recommendations.
- Leading fieldwork teams on audits of varying size and complexity, ensuring delivery of high-quality work within agreed scope and deadlines.
- Reviewing audit work prepared by junior team members, providing clear constructive feedback and on-the-job training.
- Managing workload, anticipating issues, and raising potential overruns with managers proactively.
- Preparing draft statutory financial statements and reviewing financial disclosures against the applicable disclosure checklist.
- Discussing proposed audit adjustments with the client during fieldwork.
- Ensuring all queries are responded to promptly and professionally throughout the audit
- Clearing review points and addressing any outstanding queries with the client and audit team through to the signing of the audit report.
- Maintaining and developing technical knowledge by attending relevant training and keeping up to date with technical and regulatory changes.
Working arrangements
The working week: 35 hours per week (Monday-Friday) to be worked from 09:30-17:30 with flexibility of hours to meet specific work demands.
Location: Your principle work based is our London Office.

Person specifications – Desirable experience and skills
- ACA, ACCA, CA (or equivalent) qualification.
- Proven experience leading audits from planning through to completion, including dealing with complex technical issues
- Good project management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage deadlines, and support junior staff.
- Experience supervising audit fieldwork, allocating tasks, reviewing work, providing training and feedback.
- Be confident communicator with the ability to collaborate across audit teams and engage with clients professionally.
- Ideally proficient with Excel, and Pro Audit (Audit Automation), CCH Accounts Production or Caseware.
- Demonstrates professionalism, objectivity, and independence in all client interactions.
- Actively contributes to a positive team environment and wider departmental initiatives.
