Description
Partnerships for a Health Region Partnerships for a Health Region (PHR) seeks to improve resilience, equity, and preparedness in partner countries’ health systems, aligning with universal health coverage. It expands the thematic scope to include not only communicable disease prevention but also non-communicable diseases, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and overall health systems strengthening. Gender equality, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI), climate change, One Health, and community engagement are mainstreamed throughout. The initiative targets five End-of-Program Outcomes (EOPOs): improved communicable disease control, NCD prevention, SRHR advancement, stronger health systems, and effective partnerships. Delivery spans strategic partnerships, project-based interventions, technical deployments, public sector collaborations, product development partnerships, and multilateral engagement—allocated respective shares of the AU$620 million budget. Governance will be managed by DFAT’s Global Health Division (GHD), supported by an internal Health Management Group and an external Technical Reference Group. A hybrid management model will combine DFAT-led program oversight with specialist advisory inputs. Risks are considered medium and will be managed through embedded controls, flexible delivery mechanisms, and ongoing coordination with regional partners.
