Description
We are looking for a full-time Authorization Specialist to support our team. The Authorization Specialist is responsible for verifying and obtaining insurance preauthorization and eligibility for elective, emergent, urgent and add on tests for Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Sports Medicine and Physiatry. This position will have on-site training, and the potential to become remote.  Responsibilities: * Support an environment that reinforces Rebound’s mission and Core Values of Superior Service, Teamwork, Integrity, Innovation, Quality and Recognition. * Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and preauthorization. * Identify patient preauthorization, referral requirements, and ensures they are met and in place in a timely fashion to facilitate efficient billing and payment for elective, emergent, urgent, and add on procedures/tests. * Review and resolve preauthorization, referral issues identified, and reporting. * Contact insurance companies to verify and validate requirements to ensure accuracy in preauthorization /referral process. * Contact and educate patients, physicians, and staff to ensure accuracy. * Document all authorization related information per department protocol. * Identify current and prior patient responsible balances and educates patients on their financial responsibilities. * Meet performance standards including but not limited to: Quality, collections, customer service, and productivity. * Work effectively with staff, insurance companies, outside facilities, and within a team. * Maintain excellent communication, organizational, time management, and follow up skills with attention to detail. * Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and abide by all HIPAA rules and regulations. * Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements: * High School Diploma or GED.  * Medical Terminology and working knowledge of Coding knowledge required. * 1-2 years of clinical and/or health care experience preferred.  * 1-2 years experience in insurance authorization preferred. * Knowledge of health insurance companies and processes.  * Must have excellent communication, organizational, and follow up skills with attention to detail.
