Responsibilities

Working under general direction from the Executive Manager Clinical Care and Community this position is responsible for providing autism specific, independent and evidence-based information, guidance and support to Autistic people, their families and supporters and wider Australian community.

Key responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Deliver responsive, high quality, evidence-based information and services via telephone, webchat and email to both internal and external customers, the Autistic community, service providers, agencies and stakeholders. Face-to-face may be required on occasion.
  • Provide up-to-date education and guidance for callers around topics such as, but not limited to; diagnosis supports, education and employment, NDIS, Autistic positive identity, therapies, and peer supports.
  • Provide appropriate referrals to other services.
  • Provide exceptional emotional support to contacts (phone, email, webchat). While Autism Connect is not a counselling service, Advisors will experience calls which describe trauma. This can cause emotional distress if it mirrors personal experience.
