AUTISM MUSICIAN CARER SATURDAYS

Pay: £15 per hour initially while shadowing, rising to £17.64 once working solo.
Hours: Saturdays from 10am to 6pm.
Attend team meeting for 2 hours on Zoom every 3 months , currently Thursday 2-4 pm.
Location: Tooting (London) SW17. Close to tube and buses.
Job description: Exceptionally interesting opportunity; care 1:1 for friendly young blind man aged 41 : active, sporty, amazing classical musician despite learning difficulties, great sense of humour, some challenging behaviour. Plays piano, organ and cello; cannot add 3+4 or read and write or watch TV, but can play back a symphony accurately after only a couple of hearings. Has lessons with highly qualified piano teacher; loves to improvise and sing in a variety of styles.

NOT A GAP YEAR OR TEMPORARY JOB

Applicants are invited to commit to at least a year in this job, as client hates change. Suit person with unusual cv eg artist, musician, actor, postgrad student, or person seeking to develop care experience in a range of autism roles.
Start date: ideally from mid September, shadowing experienced staff who work different days, then working some double shifts before going solo on Saturdays from mid October .
Employer: client’s parents. Supportive, non-institutional set-up.
