Role: Autism Support Assistant – SEND School
Location: Taunton
Daily Rate: £89
Hours: 8:15am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, term time only
Contract: Full-time, with potential for a permanent role

We are working with a fantastic specialist SEN school in Taunton, seeking a dedicated Autism Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for pupils across KS3 and 4. This is a rewarding role for someone who can offer structure, patience, and encouragement to help a young learner succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support a student with Autism throughout the school day, including transitions and lessons
  • Use visual aids, PECS, Makaton, and sensory strategies to promote engagement
  • Provide calm support during moments of anxiety or emotional dysregulation
  • Encourage positive social interaction during lessons, breaks, and activities
  • Assist in wider learning experiences such as swimming, cooking, and outdoor sessions

About You:

  • Experience supporting young people with Autism or complex needs
  • Confident using communication tools (PECS/Makaton preferred)
  • Calm, consistent, and resilient in managing behaviour
  • Team-focused, with clear communication skills
  • Enhanced DBS required (or willingness to apply)
