This inclusive and trauma-informed setting provides a safe and structured environment where pupils are supported to re-engage with learning and develop essential life skills. You will play a key role in helping learners access education, regulate emotions, and build positive relationships.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Experience supporting children or young people with autism and/or SEMH needs
· Knowledge of autism-specific strategies and communication tools (e.g. PECS, Makaton)
· A calm, patient, and consistent approach to behaviour and emotional support
· Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent)
· Two education or care-based references
· Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
If you are passionate about inclusive education and want to make a meaningful impact in the lives of neurodiverse learners, we would love to hear from you.
· Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism and SEMH needs
· Use tailored strategies such as visual supports, sensory tools, and communication aids
· Support pupils with emotional regulation, transitions, and classroom routines
· Build strong, trusting relationships to promote engagement and wellbeing
· Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals
· Contribute to EHCP reviews and personalised support plans
