Job Title: Auto Body / Collision Production Manager
Location: CARSTAR Deerfoot
Reports To: Collision Centre Manager
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Starting at $60,000.00

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the complete collision repair process, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with DRP and insurance carrier requirements. This role coordinates between technicians, estimators, parts staff, insurers, and customers to deliver timely, high-quality repairs that meet OEM, industry, and insurer standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Collision Estimator/Appraiser.
  • Previous experience as a Collision Repair Technician is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of DRP requirements, insurance carrier procedures, and OEM repair standards.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and support a diverse team of technicians and staff.
  • Proficiency with repair planning software and estimating systems.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract.
  • Ability to adequately pass a pre-employment background screening
  • Completion of a high school diploma is required.
  • Post-secondary education or certification in Automotive Collision Estimating, Auto Body Repair, or a related field from a recognized Canadian institution is preferred.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard estimating software (Audatex, Mitchell, CCC).
  • Solid understanding of repair procedures and insurance industry guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • I-CAR certification or willingness to complete training is an asset.
  • Experience working with Direct Repair Programs (DRPs) is considered an asset.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the full production process from vehicle intake to final delivery.
  • Develop and manage repair schedules to maximize efficiency and meet deadlines.
  • Monitor quality control throughout repairs, ensuring compliance with OEM, DRP, and insurance requirements.
  • Review and confirm repair documentation (images, notes, supplements) for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support technicians by answering questions and resolving quality or process concerns during repairs.
  • Collaborate with estimators and parts personnel to ensure proper repair methods, accurate plans, and timely parts availability.
  • Verify repair completion, including structural, mechanical, paint, cosmetic finishes, reassembly, and cleanliness.
  • Conduct test drives (as needed) to confirm system functionality (e.g., ADAS, steering, braking).
  • Track production metrics such as cycle time, touch time, and CSI scores, implementing improvements as needed.
  • Communicate with insurance companies, adjusters, vendors, and customers regarding repair status, approvals, and updates.
  • Document all communications, supplements, and revisions to ensure accurate records.
  • Lead final inspections to confirm repair quality prior to customer delivery.
