Description Main Purpose: Auto Mechanic inspects, maintains, and repairs cars and light trucks, specializing in diagnosing mechanical and electronic issues, performing routine maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations), and repairing systems like brakes, engines, and transmissions Essential Functions: Diagnostics & Repair: Utilize electronic tools to diagnose malfunctions and repair engines, transmissions, electrical systems, steering, and suspension. Preventative Maintenance: Perform oil changes, fluid flushes, brake pad replacements, wheel alignments, and filter changes. Inspection & Testing: Conduct safety and emissions inspections and test drive vehicles to verify repairs Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor. Walking – Will be required to walk. Lifting – You will be required to lift up to 75 pounds. Carrying – You will be required to carry up to 50 pounds. Turning, Twisting, Bending, & Stooping – These are considered regular physical duties for any employee and would be required. Pushing & Pulling –These are considered regular physical duties and will be required. Reaching Forward & Reaching Overhead – Will be required to perform these physical duties as the need arises 25-50% of the time. Kneeling - You will be required to kneel. Climbing – Will be required to climb. Balancing, Fingering, Feeling, Talking, Hearing & Seeing– These are all considered normal duties and would be required Job Requirements. Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen Must be able to pass background check. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing. Desirable Experience/Training: Highschool diploma or GED Tools and equipment used: Individuals must know how to safely operate powered hand tools and machinery. Environmental conditions: Eighty percent of the work activities are performed outside of the office and shop buildings. Individuals would be required to work in changes of temperature, wet/rainy conditions, dry and humid conditions, dust, noise, and occasional vibrations when operating machinery. There will also be some minimal fumes when working with or around gas/diesel powered machinery or working near blasting or painting operations Gulf Island will not sponsor applications for work visas.
