SUMMARY:

We are searching for an energetic Designer who will be responsible for preparing electronic (AutoCAD) working plans and technical drawings for various Fire Alarm System projects from preliminary concepts, sketches, calculations, specification sheets and other data. These drawings play a crucial role in ensuring the effective implementation of fire alarm systems in various projects. This is a full time permanent role based out of our Vaughan office.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:

  • Post-secondary College Graduate in design or a related electronic industry field.
  • 1 to 3 years of Design experience is preferred.
  • Experience in Fire Alarm, Electronic or Mechanical System design is an asset.
  • Proficient in using AutoCAD, including 3D modeling functions.
  • Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) Registration or CFAA Student working towards CFAA certification.
  • Technical experience of in-field Life Safety Systems is an asset.
  • Possess a valid and clean motor vehicle license (G License) an asset.
  • Understanding of the Life Safety Industry codes and standards an asset.
  • Able to read and understand engineered drawings, specifications, programs, schematics, installation manuals, and service manuals.
  • Strong presentation, oratory, and written skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to finish multiple projects on time and scale.
  • Computer literate, including effective working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and Adobe Products.
  • Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects.
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  • Excellent organization and project management skills, including the ability to multitask in a fast-paced product development environment.
Responsibilities
  • Create custom sketches and incorporate custom drawings into tool palettes.
  • Provide assistance to the team leader in the interpretation and implementation of specifications and requirements and the procurement and use of AutoCAD files.
  • Prepare electronic layouts, charts, detailed scale drawings, and material and equipment requirements from sketches, specifications, and standard layouts provided.
  • Revise computer-aided designs and plans to comply with modified specifications made during actual construction Participate in ongoing product and technical training.
  • Review plans and writing technical reports to meet project specifications.
  • Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets.
  • Employ problem-solving strategies and find solutions to product design issues.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all work, products and relevant activities.
  • Carry out assignments on project design teams.
