• Design and draft plans for fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, smoke detectors, emergency lighting, and other fire safety features.
• Produce detailed layouts for emergency exits, evacuation routes, and signage in compliance with fire safety codes and regulations.
• Develop drawings for safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, fire hoses, and emergency shutdown systems.
• Work closely with fire protection engineers, safety officers, and project managers to develop and refine fire and safety system designs.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical, electrical) to ensure that fire and safety features are integrated properly into the overall building or infrastructure design.
• Ensure that all fire and safety designs comply with local and international fire codes, building regulations, and health and safety standards.
• Stay updated on the latest fire safety regulations and industry best practices to ensure all designs are up to date.
• Review and verify all fire and safety system drawings for accuracy and completeness.
• Ensure that the designs are feasible, cost-effective, and meet the necessary safety requirements.
• Perform quality checks on the layout of fire safety equipment and emergency systems to ensure accessibility and proper placement.
• Provide technical assistance and guidance on fire safety systems to other departments and project stakeholders.
• Help troubleshoot design-related issues during the construction or installation phases.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all fire and safety-related drawings and design revisions.
• Prepare and present technical drawings for safety audits, inspections, and client approvals.
• Assist project managers in preparing safety documentation for project proposals, bids, and compliance approvals.
• Ensure all fire and safety-related documentation is available for regulatory authorities during inspections and approvals.
• Assist in training junior draughtsmen or new team members on fire safety design requirements and AutoCAD techniques specific to this field.
