iFortress is a leader in the design and manufacture of scalable building assemblies consisting of steel panels comprised of frame rails, inner and outer skins, and a variety of integral parts. We are currently looking for an experienced draftsman to support our growth in the deployment of scalable assemblies and the need to design custom panels based on modifications of existing designs. This position will work with our engineering, fabrication, and product teams to create internal and external fabrication and engineering technical drawings.
The Design Drafter shall be responsible for the preparation of mechanical designs, drawings, and fabrication programming using both AutoCAD and SolidWorks solid modeling computer-aided design and computer-aided engineering computer. The Design Drafter shall also ensure that design and programming drawings conform to specifications provided. The role will create, and coordinate Assembly plans using modular components and create and coordinate fabrication drawings for scalable assembly components.
Initially, project engineers will provide markup drawings of existing projects and assembly components for drawing editing purposes. Over time, it is expected that the Design Drafter will develop the product knowledge in sufficient detail to be able to generate drawings on their own based on project specifications and direction/oversight from the project engineers.
Job Responsibilities:
 Gain a full understanding of the design process at iFortress and your critical role in the delivery of on-time quality solutions to our customers.
 Learn iFortress’ existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to the creation and maintenance of assembly drawings.
 Take ownership of mechanical design and assembly drawing-related SOPs and templates, in accordance with the iFortress’ quality management system.
 Be fully briefed and involved with current and upcoming design projects and take on tasks as assigned by engineering management.
 Gain a high-level understanding of the iFortress panel components, construction, and interrelationships, to support fabrication, production, and engineering – facing drawings as required.
 Work with existing SolidWorks files, create toolpaths for CNC. · Develop and prepare designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, and specifications.
· Create 3-dimensional models of iFortress building assemblies and their individual component panels.
· Produce, organize, and distribute all project plans including preliminary plans for proposal development, detailed project plans and fabrication drawings for Assembly components.
· Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets based on current project and team needs.
· Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design data.
 Work with engineering, fabrication, and production management’s continuing initiatives for new and expanding products.
Required:
· Minimum post-secondary diploma in drafting or equivalent.
 2 + years of experience design with AutoCAD and SolidWorks (SolidWorks
certification and BIM proficiency a plus)
 Experience with creating assembly drawing packages for production of products.
· Ability to create preliminary designs or conceptualization of design.
 Familiarity working in a fast-paced production environment, with strong decision making skills to provide solutions to problems as they arise.
 Experience in drawing for mechanical assemblies.
 Experience in tooling / toolpath creation for CNC.
· Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution.
· Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management techniques.
