Job Description
The position of Automated Equipment Electrical Software Engineer II describes an individual with a minimum of a BS Physics, BSCS, BSEE or BSEET degree or equivalent curriculum and applied interest in machine-process automation. The engineer works within the automation engineering team to create/design computer-controlled machines that are used to manufacture and test night vision devices along with supporting existing systems by aiding technicians with troubleshooting hardware/software to get to root cause. Software development experience should include object-oriented design utilizing Visual Studio, C#, C++, other scripted languages, IEC 61131-3 industrial languages, SQL.
Electrical/electronic knowledge of HMI devices, instrumentation, Digital and analog control methods, computer hardware, networking, PLC hardware, electronics, component level design, electrical layouts, pneumatics, hydraulics, motion control, vision, safety systems and CAD is a required.
Leadership and good communication skills to lead or work with a team of technicians, and engineers of multiple disciplines. The automation engineer may often serve as the project team leader to organize the participating members of the team. An Automation Engineer works across the facility, interfacing with all process departments.
A security clearance is required for access and control of confidential process parameters, data and ITAR sensitive information.

Qualifications

  • Minimum BS Physics, BSCS, BSEE, BSEET, or equivalent curriculum and courses in mechatronics/automation/system integration, programming. Major in physics, electrical engineering and minor computer programming/engineering and minor in programming is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of electronic components and systems
  • Industrial Networking, PLC and PC based control systems environments
  • Robotics and mechatronics experience
  • Practical understanding and motivation to learn/apply developed skills to control electronic components and interfaced systems
  • This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance, the candidate needs to be a US citizen.
  • Major in electronics engineering/physics preferred and minor in software programming
  • IEC 61131-3 industrial languages, Codesys
  • Statistical process control, data driven problem solving.
  • Machine vision image analysis and integration experience with leading machine vision hardware/software manufacturers and libraries. Machine vision interpretation of layered soft edge objects.
  • Adaptability among different programming languages and styles and industrial standards.
  • Hands on technical experience.
  • Graphical user interface design
  • Applied uses of industrial communication protocols
