Description

We are seeking an Automated Systems Integration Specialist (ASRS / API) to support upcoming warehouse automation projects. This is a unique 3-month contract role designed to bridge a current resource gap, providing sales engineering, process development, and technical documentation support until a permanent hire is onboarded.
This is not a hands-on coding or controls engineering role. Instead, the specialist will serve as a technical subject matter expert (SME), helping align customer system requirements with Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) software applications and APIs.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficiency with APIs and Python required for understanding system interactions and creating technical documentation from engineering inputs
  • Background in controls/software/coding, with the ability to grasp and explain the basis of software-driven automation systems
  • Experience with ASRS or similar integration to various systems
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills (agreements, requirements, process outlines)
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills, able to bridge technical and business discussions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in technical sales engineering or pre-sales consulting for automation/warehouse systems
  • Knowledge of ASRS workflows, iBots, or warehouse automation technologies
  • Willingness to travel for occasional onboarding or customer visits (NJ, TN, TX) is a plus, not required
Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a technical SME for ASRS software applications and system integrations
  • Work with customers to ensure ASRS API integration with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other customer systems
  • Interpret and explain system architecture, including:
  • API-based PLCs sending I/O to an HMI, enabling operators to push/pull orders and manage the ASRS
  • iBots that retrieve order bins and deliver them to operators
  • Review, refine, and prepare software agreements and requirements (customer-signed as part of the PO)
  • Translate engineering and customer input into clear, accurate technical documentation
  • Collaborate with internal software engineers to understand integration points and system behavior
  • Provide process improvement and implementation support to prepare projects for execution
  • Contribute to FAT/SAT planning and customer validation expectations (high-level, not coding)

WHY THIS ROLE?

  • High-Impact Contribution: Support critical ASRS projects during a transition period
  • Remote Flexibility: Work from anywhere in the U.S.
  • Strategic Position: Provide technical clarity to customers and sales teams without being buried in coding
