Chemours is seeking a Manufacturing Technology (MT) Automation and Process Control Engineer to join our Chambers Works team! This position will report directly to the Manufacturing Technology Manager at our Deepwater, NJ location.
This position provides process and equipment technical expertise to support site manufacturing operations and ensures safety, reliability, capability, and productivity of the facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical oversight for day-to-day operations, including process monitoring and troubleshooting of Instrumentation and control systems.
  • Design solutions and lead multi-discipline programs to improve processes through control based solutions with business and technical input (safety, yield, uptime, capacity release, reliability, and cost performance)
  • Provide technical oversight and lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex operational issues stemming from instrumentation and control systems, including environmental, health, and safety (EHS).
  • Lead and/or participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) related activities such as Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) reviews, Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews (PSSR), Mechanical Integrity, Process Technology, and other technical and safety reviews
  • Review, revise, and create procedures, Management of Change (MOC), and other technical documentation
  • Communicate effectively at all levels and across sites and functions
  • Participate in and lead continuous improvement efforts
  • Participate in and execute activities related to both small and large capital projects (front end loading, conducting safety reviews, developing detailed basic data, commissioning, start-up, etc.)
  • Develop and apply process technology knowledge to assist Operations in maintaining production performance, restoring process capability if the process is not in control, and trouble-shooting process or quality issues
  • Network with peers and leverage knowledge from other functions and corporate groups; including R&D, Technical Service, Engineering, etc.
  • Assist in training the manufacturing line organization (operations and maintenance) to boost the organization’s knowledge and capability

The following is required for this role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Electrical or strongly related Engineering Discipline from an ABET accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of experience in Process Controls and Safety Interlock Systems (preferably ABB DCS Systems).
  • 2+ years of experience with highly hazardous chemical processes.
  • Knowledge of chemical processes and methodologies applicable to a manufacturing setting.
  • Working knowledge of key Process Safety Management (PSM) technology elements such as PHA, Process Technology, Management of Change, and Mechanical Integrity / Quality Assurance (MIQA).

The following is preferred for this role:

  • 7+ years of experience in Process Controls in a chemical manufacturing facility.
  • Experience in developing and documenting detailed basic data to ensure success of process improvements and capital projects.
  • Experience with capital improvement projects, especially detailed basic data development.
  • Experience with process modeling and analyzing data from process historians and alarm management systems.
  • Demonstrated use of Six Sigma methodology (Green Belt or Black Belt certified).
  • Proficient with SAP/R3.
  • Experience with Batch Automation and Sequencing.
  • Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) familiarity.
  • Understanding of Alarm Rationalization.
