JOB SUMMARY
Work with innovative enterprise open source software like Red Hat Ansible Automation, Red Hat Satellite, Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, and open source development frameworks for hosting and building modern applications. The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for an Automation Consultant with infrastructure and automation experience to join our team of open source experts in Melbourne, Australia. In this role, you will work as part of a fast-growing team at the forefront of helping customers guide digital transformation and modern IT architectures as they grow in existing and new markets. You’ll be responsible for providing technical leadership to small to medium-sized project teams while ensuring the quality of customer deliverables for one or more projects. You’ll apply well-developed technology, consulting, business, and process expertise in the implementation of quality work while actively coaching and mentoring others. You’ll need to be proficient in building good customer relationships because you will often play a key role in managing customer expectations. As an Automation Consultant, you will represent Red Hat in your customer engagements and at technical forums, speaking to audiences varying from customer architects, engineers, and developers to community user groups about Red Hat’s technologies, solutions, and services.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- 5+ years of experience working with enterprise customers on a range of infrastructure and deployment projects in an on-site capacity
- 5+ years of experience working as a UNIX, Linux, or virtual infrastructure engineer or system administrator
- Expert technical capabilities in UNIX and Linux systems, preferably in Red Hat’s platform solutions including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Red Hat Satellite
- Expert technical knowledge of automation tools like Red Hat Ansible Automation; Puppet and Chef are a plus
- Ability to serve as a technical lead on smaller projects
- Willingness to travel to the major cities in the Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) region to share your knowledge and experience with our customers and colleagues
- Desire to learn continually; motivation and excellent time management skills to achieve Red Hat’s goals
- Excellent communication skills and passion for open source software and communities

Responsibilities:
- Become a respected and trusted subject matter expert at the customer site, addressing customer architectural, technical, development, and strategic IT requirements
- Implement and integrate Red Hat’s open hybrid cloud technologies like Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Red Hat Ansible Automation, and Red Hat Satellite, while further learning and developing your skills in Red Hat OpenStack Platform or Red Hat OpenShift
- Define overall system architectures, manage software specification, installation, and configuration, and design, test, and deploy Red Hat’s open source solutions
- Work with senior associates to promote the adoption of automation techniques and DevOps processes to improve the cloud life cycle, including infrastructure and application uptime, availability, and time to market
- Develop and implement automation and integration for our customers’ cloud and system infrastructure solutions using Red Hat Ansible Automation, Puppet, Python, or Ruby
- Collaborate with project and customer team members to meet timelines and goals
- Contribute to project documentation and diagrams, including quality assurance (QA) and ticket and bug management
- Participate in mentoring and knowledge transfer to customers
- Contribute your knowledge and experience back into the wider Red Hat community for the benefit of other teams and customers
