As POW Engineering continues to grow, we need to add talent to our base of outstanding professionals. We are always accepting resumes throughout the year and will find a spot for the right candidate, however sometimes we are actively seeking candidates to fill specific roles. We have in-house structural, mechanical, welding, controls, and civil engineering disciplines. We also have in house welding, machining, and fabrication. We will look to puzzle in the right candidates or fill positions whether it is full time, or a co-op.

AUTOMATION CONTROL SYSTEMS SPECIALIST

We are currently seeking a Controls Systems Engineer to join our team of experienced professionals located at our head office in Ingersoll, ON.
Working with other highly motivated team members, you will be involved with designing, programming integrating, troubleshooting, and supporting new and existing automated controls systems. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Ability to design and create electrical schematics including component sizing and selection
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Aptitude for Programming (SCL, SFC, STL, C, C#, VBA, SQL, Ladder Logic, or other languages) is an asset
  • Knowledge of PLCs (e.g. ControlLogix, Toyopuc, Siemens S7) is an asset
  • Knowledge of HMIs (e.g. FactoryTalkView, Screenworks, Proface, Wonderware, iFix) is an asset
  • Familiarity with IT/Networking and database applications is an asset
  • The ability to read electrical schematics is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Understanding of industrial environments, engineering, and production processes
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Design, Automation, Industrial Engineering, or college equivalent
  • Ability to complete all security clearance requirements that may be required for the performance of the work
  • Willing to travel up to 30% throughout the year (includes local travel to customers sites located within a 100km radius of our offices)
Responsibilities
  • Control system design
  • PLC programming
  • Electrical design including electrical schematics creation in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other
  • Design/programming of Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)
  • Troubleshooting of electrical, PLC, and HMI systems
  • Interfacing with real-time database applications to manage critical production information
  • Supporting project proposals and estimation
  • Preparing functional specifications
  • Assisting with equipment selection and procurement
  • Site commissioning and installation
  • Performing other duties as required
