Description

A leading global supplier of advanced materials to the Aerospace, Automotive, and Industrial sectors is seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer to join its expanding team in Cambridge.
As their Automation and Controls Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering novel manufacturing equipment and automation solutions. Working at the forefront of engineering innovation, you will help build the company’s “Factories of the Future,” contributing directly to the production of industry-leading materials.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A background in Science or Engineering, evidenced by relevant industry experience or academic qualifications.
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience in areas such as process automation, robotics, machine design, or PLC control systems.
  • Strong practical and experimental engineering skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, particularly when working with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to organise tasks, manage priorities, and allocate resources effectively.
Responsibilities
  • Drive the end-to-end development of advanced manufacturing and automation solutions, from concept through to implementation.
  • Collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams to support the delivery of complex engineering projects.
  • Align project work with the Manufacturing Innovation Team’s (MIT) roadmap and wider Research & Technology strategy.
  • Engage with equipment suppliers to specify, evaluate, and integrate technology that meets evolving production needs.
  • Communicate findings and technical insights clearly to stakeholders across the business.
  • Ensure compliance with project procedures and reporting protocols.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, EH&S, and 5S initiatives.
