Description
The Controls & Automation Technician supports the Controls Engineering Team by acting as the lead troubleshooter for down equipment. When not troubleshooting the Controls & Automation Technician will assist Controls Engineers with project tasks. In this function, you will: Support the Controls Engineering Team by acting as the first responder for troubleshooting requests on down equipment. Use electrical, mechanical, and software-based tools to assist maintenance with troubleshooting tasks and evaluate if the problem is significant enough to require further intervention from controls or design engineering. Assist Controls Engineers with the completion of large capital projects. Tasks may involve setup of new PLC and drive systems, procurement of materials needed for the project and assistance with creating or reviewing electrical and mechanical drawings. Participate in deep-dive investigations to determine the root cause of persistent issues with plant equipment. Investigations will often involve multifunctional teams and utilize common problem-solving tools such as 5-Why, 8D and fishbone charts. Completion of a High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution Experience with NI LabVIEW and NI TestStand Previous Controls Technician experience Experience in electrical testing, procedures, and protocols Ability to understand problem-solving methodologies used in determining root cause and formulating corrective action(s) - i.e. thought maps, 8D, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, control charts, Pareto charts, A3s, etc Fundamental knowledge of electrical equipment at component and integrated system levels. Demonstrated ability to interpret regulations and standards, and implement Electrical Safe Work practices such NFPA 70E. Demonstrated ability to interpret and troubleshoot electrical control, protection, instrumentation, and metering schematics and wiring diagrams Demonstrated ability to work with little direction and effectively operate in a team-oriented environment. Ability to assist manufacturing operations and product designers/engineering personnel to resolve electrical design and build production issues. Ability to interpret, suggest, and resolve equipment or installation issues with multiple and varied electrical contractors. Ability to work overtime when required.
