We are looking for an
Automation Development Engineer
to join our R&D Automation Development team in Oulu, Finland with flexible remote working opportunities, including our office in Iisalmi and remote R&D office in Kuopio.
At Normet, we are pioneers in the mining industry, dedicated to innovation and excellence. We are seeking a talented Automation Engineer to join our dynamic and research oriented team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge automation solutions for mining and tunneling machinery.
As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for developing automation systems in mining machinery. You will integrate machine automation software functionalities to enhance performance and create new controlling and sensing methods to automate mining machines controls, for instance developing advanced manipulator control, assisted driving technologies and remote control. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to ensure seamless integration. Additionally, you will conduct testing and validation of control systems to ensure reliability and safety, while staying updated with the latest advancements in automation technology and implementing best practices.
To shine in this position, we hope you have:

A Master’s of Bachelor’s degree in automation engineering or a related field in technology

• At least 5 years of experience as an Automation/Software Engineer
• Proficiency in machine automation and embedded systems software development
• Experience with mobile machine control systems, electrics, and mechanics is a plus
• Knowledge of machine vision, camera, and sensor technologies
• Strong communication skills in both Finnish and English
• The ability to work effectively with a global network of individuals from diverse backgrounds
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
• A proactive and eager-to-learn mindset
• A can-do, results driven attitude
• Innovativeness and a hands-on approach to problem solving
• Willingness to take responsibility and ownership
