Comprised of dedicated people and decades of manufacturing experience, we have continued to experience strong growth and currently have outstanding career opportunities for equally dedicated people.   Job Description: The Automation Engineer II deploys engineering techniques to design, develop, test, and manage automated machinery processes.    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities * Designs, programs, simulates, and tests automated machinery to streamline manufacturing processes.  * Uses design techniques to build automated systems such as measurement functions, control functions, and actuators, etc.  * Considers automation workflow, production layout, and safety measures when designing automated machinery processes.   * Audits current equipment and automated processes to determine failure rates. Coordinates quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost.  * Drafts and designs detailed documentation for design specifications and additional relevant documents.  * Adheres to international and local regulatory standards for design, process, and safety considerations.    Essential Qualifications * Proficient with Microsoft office. * Experience in use of ERP Systems, preferably IQMS. * Must be well organized and detail oriented with an emphasis on accuracy. * Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to others.  May act as a lead or first-level supervisor. * Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma background/knowledge is preferred. * Ability to travel up to 25% of the time. * Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree and 6+ years of Automation Engineering experience. * Previous plastic injection molding experience. * Ability to read, write, and speak English.   Desirable Qualifications: * Experience within the medical device industry.   What SMC has to offer? * Clean, Climate-Controlled Environment * Stable schedule  * Paid holiday and PTO * Health, dental, and vision insurance * 401(k) retirement savings * Life and disability insurance * Promotional opportunities * Training and career growth programs * Amazing co-workers * Tuition reimbursement * Employee Assistance Program   We are committed to fair and equitable hiring with salaries based on relevant factors, such as work experience, education, and certifications.
