Description

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • Ability to function independently and with a team to achieve objectives
  • BS Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years of previous experience in discrete manufacturing plant and/or experience with Custom Automation Builder required.
    · Analytical mindset with ability to troubleshoot/investigate issues
    · Experience with SolidWorks (or similar) and know how to leverage for drawing sequencing, templates, BOM’s, weldments, etc.
    · Thorough understanding of GD&T and best practices for design/detail of machinery and parts
    · Knowledge of fastener types and application
    · Knowledge of different materials and their applications
    · Practical understanding of sizing of assemblies and parts to insure robustness and longevity
    · Self-starter and self-motivated
    · Strong communication and organization skills
    · Prioritization skills with ability to thrive in fast-paced environment
    · Strong knowledge of consensus standards (ANSI, NFPA, RIA, etc.)

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • Experience with FEA in SolidWorks
  • Simulation of Robotic Cells and/or Material Handling Systems
  • Experience with Web Handling and/or Converting Systems
    Ability to lead and manage expedited prototyping activities
    Exposure and/or experience in Lean Six Sigma methodologies

Responsibilities
  • Concept, Design, and Install automated equipment and hardware related to the mechanical discipline.
  • Identify & develop or create new technologies to improve the operational efficiency of Automated Production Systems
  • Identify & develop or create new technologies to improve the energy efficiency of new and existing Automated Production Systems
  • Prepare cost estimations for development items and monitor/maintain budget throughout the projects
  • Prepare & monitor schedules to ensure on-time completion of development projects
  • Establish project goals and priorities by collaborating with Business Planning, Design & Assembly
  • Develop or create engineering designs for the identified new equipment/machines using SolidWorks or similar
  • Work Directly with Production & Production Engineering groups to identify gaps in current Automated Production Systems (Utilizing data analytic methodology where appropriate)
  • Prepare and Present proposals to all levels of management as required to gain approval
  • Define Requests for Quotes
  • Lead and perform collaborative interdepartmental efforts to analyze and select supplier/partners
  • Collaborate with other engineers and project managers to ensure projects are completed on-time and within budget
  • Conduct testing and commissioning of automation systems
  • Demonstrates knowledge of industry standards and emerging practices that apply to machine design, safety, and to automation in general.
  • Analyzing problems or deficiencies and developing solutions to resolve them.
  • Conducting experiments and evaluations to improve and innovate production.
  • Estimating budgets and time scopes for each project.
  • Writing technical documentation for machine operators.
  • Ensuring that products meet compliance regulations.
  • Collaborating with project managers and other engineers in our team.
