Your role We are looking for a solution-oriented and proactive Automation Engineer to join our automation team at Fermion’s production site in Oulu. Fermion’s production sites are highly automated, utilizing process automation and building automation systems, PLCs, and recipe and reporting systems. In this role, you will take an active role in production process and equipment renewals, expansion projects, and production efficiency initiatives. We are continuously seeking solutions within automation that support smarter and more efficient ways of working.   Responsibilities   Your responsibilities will include automation lifecycle maintenance activities, leading automation related matters in projects, oversee commissioning activities as well as taking part in validations, documentation needs, and technical development. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional development and continuous learning together with your colleagues.   You will: * After you have completed your onboarding, take over a key user role for defined systems. As a key user you are responsible for system functionality and maintenance, ensuring that requirements are met. * Lead automation and instrumentation design in change and project work, from design to definition of HW and SW solutions, coordination of suppliers, partners, and subcontractors, FAT/SAT testing, commissioning and validation. * Participate in the development of production automation and supporting the lifecycle management of production equipment from an automation perspective. To succeed in this role, you will need: * A suitable education in automation (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering) and relevant work experience. * Strong project management and communication skills. * Good documentation skills and the ability to develop documentation processes. * Previous project-based work experience in an industrial environment. * A genuine interest in learning new technologies and systems. * Fluency in Finnish and English, both spoken and written. Finnish is our primary working language. Considered as an advantage: * Knowledge of one or more of the following systems: Honeywell Experion PKS, Siemens S7, Schneider building automation. * AutoCAD/Cadmatic and hardware design skills. * Knowledge of safety circuits and risk assessment processes. * Database and programming skills. * Previous experience in the pharmaceutical or food industry and knowledge of GMP.
