Description Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Automation Engineer works closely with our engineering and manufacturing teams to quote, develop, launch, and support Rosti automation needs. This includes working closely with our vendors to design efficient and reliable systems that support Rosti’s integrated, lean manufacturing principles. In addition, the Automation Engineer will continue to research and expand our automation capabilities. Requirements Develop standard design and build practices that yield safe, reliable, and efficient automation systems in accordance with Rosti’s integrated, lean operating environments. Obtain quotes from outside vendors for new equipment and equipment modifications. Ensure all equipment is built, installed, and operated in compliance with governmental safety standards. Coordinate vision system design, programming, integration, lighting, data export/management, etc. Effective cross-functional communication with management, sales, operations, engineering, production technicians, quality, etc. to ensure successful launch and continued operation of new and existing equipment. Willingness to work hands on, control wiring, panel building, basic fabrication skills and methods. Ability to create concepts, build and implement end of arm tooling, fixtures and equipment. Research new technologies and recommend opportunities to continue to expand Rosti capabilities and service offerings. Support operations with manufacturing setup, troubleshooting, brainstorming, etc. Work closely with production technicians to identify and resolve root cause of issues with existing manufacturing equipment. Knowledge of PLC and robot programming preferred. Familiarity with SolidWorks/AutoCAD preferred. BSME degree preferred or 5 years’ experience with automation. (i.e. robotics - gantry, cartesian and scara, vision systems for assembly and quality verification, automated assembly/packaging, manufacturing processes – ultrasonic welding, heat staking, pad printing, etc.) Communicate with all company employees in a positive, team-oriented manner. Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping and standards.
