MANUFACTURING AUTOMATION ENGINEER

The Manufacturing Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing automated systems and tooling to support manufacturing operations. This role focuses on improving process efficiency, reliability, and quality through the integration of robotics, PLCs, and advanced inspection technologies. Key responsibilities include executing automation projects, supporting APQP activities, implementing engineering changes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure production readiness, cost reduction, and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent technical discipline).
· 3–5 years of experience in automation, tooling, and machine design within a manufacturing environment.
· Proficient in SolidWorks and PDM for complex assemblies and drawing control.
· Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Fanuc PLCs and ABB, Fanuc, and Panasonic robots.
· Familiarity with eddy current systems for weld seam detection and vision-based inspection technologies.
· Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver projects independently with minimal oversight.
· Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, robotics integration, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
· Excellent problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a growth mindset.
· Effective communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teamwork.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00-$80,000.00 per year

Responsibilities

· Design and develop automation systems, custom tooling, and machinery to improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
· Create detailed CAD models, drawings, and specifications for mechanical components and assemblies.
· Integrate robotics (ABB, Fanuc, Panasonic) and PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc) into new and existing production lines.
· Implement advanced technologies such as eddy current systems for weld seam detection and high-precision vision systems for inspection and measurement.
· Support the build, installation, and commissioning of tooling and equipment, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors.
· Lead automation and tooling projects from concept through implementation, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning.
· Carry out Continuous Improvement projects from all departments whenever design work is required.
· Ensure all solutions meet safety, quality, and operational standards.
· Work closely with Manufacturing Engineers to align automation and tooling designs with production goals and APQP requirements.
· Support new product launches by integrating automation and tooling into process planning and validation.
· Develop and maintain technical documentation, including work instructions and maintenance plans.
· Identify and implement improvements to existing tooling and equipment to enhance reliability and reduce maintenance frequency.
· Apply Lean principles to optimize equipment performance and reduce waste.
· Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions for manufacturing challenges.
