JOB DESCRIPTION:

Automation Engineer
Wastequip has an immediate opening for an Automation. The Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supervising all aspects of the plant’s Automation/robotic equipment, electronic control systems, equipment, and machinery. Travel to other sites is required (35% travel). This is a full-time position with great benefits including but not limited to Health Insurance, 401K Plan, Paid Vacation/Sick time, and so much more. This position can sit at the Tyler, TX or Lakeland, FL locations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical Degree in Electrical Systems Technology, Automation Technology, Robotics, or a similarly related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a hands-on Automation engineering role -or-
  • 4+ years of experience as an automation technician is required.
  • Experience and proficiency with ABB industrial robots is required.
  • Experience and proficiency in Siemens TIA Portal is required.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement projects in a lean manufacturing environment is desired.

Responsibilities
  • Will be responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC-based hardware and software.
  • Will work directly with the automation technicians to ensure robotic assets are functioning properly and assist in process improvement activities related to current practices.
  • Ensures critical support for all production line related concerns while supporting continuous improvement projects and structured kaizen activities.
  • Safeguard all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed.
  • The Automation Engineer works directly with manufacturing engineers and controls engineers to drive activities related to continuous improvement projects.
  • Working with the Automation Technicians, you will design and implement customized solutions that allow our operational equipment to perform efficiently while protecting the safety of our employees.
  • Support, troubleshoot and maintain systems which may include but are not limited to robotics, pneumatics, servos, variable frequency drives, relays, and HMI touchscreens.
  • Create customer documentation such as user manual, programming diagrams, and electrical schematics.
  • Build action plans to drive continuous improvement, understanding which projects to prioritize based on the most critical impact to the business. You will partner with operations, maintenance, and engineering to deliver technical projects.
  • Assist in training affected parties with the changes you have implemented so that these results can be sustained.
  • Provide both training schematics and hands-on training to ensure our technicians can operate your improvements in a safe, sustainable manner.
