We are looking for an Automation Engineer (x|f|m) for the PD Basic Control department at Sartorius Stedim Systems GmbH. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and supporting cutting edge automated products for our customers in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. The team is looking forward to shaping the future with you. This is a full-time and hybrid role requiring some days on site in Guxhagen with the opportunity to work some days remotely.

• Gather, analyze and understand requirements for software functionality with input from product owners and our customers
• Engineer and develop sustainable software systems using the Siemens automation platform TIA trough the use of prototyping, clear software design, and participating in design reviews
• Write clear, easy to maintain, high quality code that is optimized for performance and memory usage
• Support the test strategy by providing automated unit and regression tests
• Provide comprehensive design, functional, and quality assurance test documentation
• Validate correct software and hardware system operation
• Adhere to good automation, manufacturing and documentation practice
• Contribute to the automation of both development process and build environment

What will convince us

• You have a bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, engineering or equivalent
• You have relevant professional experience as an automation engineer with Siemens platform using TIA Portal and Structured Control Language (SCL)
• Proven experience with modern software engineering processes and methodologies, as well as experience in the various stages of the automation software engineering lifecycle
• Practical experience with source code management tools, preferably Git and Azure DevOps. In addition, first practical experience with high-level programming languages (C#) and scripting (PowerShell), and the ability to read, understand and create YAML pipelines to automate both development and build process
• Subject matter knowledge of the ISA88 physical and procedural models on batch processing, as well as good understanding of computer systems validation practices (GAMP)
• You are characterized by a high level of initiative and a results-oriented way of working, strong communication skills and team spirit
• Fluency in English rounds off your profile. German is a plus
