We are seeking an Automation Operations Engineer to join our client’s lab in San Diego, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, executing, and maintaining hardware test fixtures. You’ll work closely with Automation Engineers to deploy fixtures, perform mechanical and device-under-test setup, monitor daily tests, troubleshoot issues, and run experiments. This is temporary position and will be100% onsite in San Diego, CA.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Hands-on experience with Python-based test automation and custom hardware interfaces (e.g., microcontrollers, I/O devices)
  • Experience deploying mechanical test setups
  • Familiarity with infrastructure/configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet)
  • Proficient in shell scripting, networking, and managing macOS systems
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Highly detail-oriented, adaptable to fast-paced and shifting priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially across remote teams
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain Python-based test automation systems to support product testing efforts
  • Interact with custom hardware interfaces, such as microcontrollers and various I/O devices, to facilitate testing and integration processes
  • Deploy and maintain automated test fixtures, including performing mechanical setup and device-under-test (DUT) preparation as needed
  • Monitor and ensure the consistent execution of daily tests, addressing any system issues promptly to prevent disruptions
  • Debug and resolve test system hardware or software issues to maintain smooth operations and reliable results
  • Execute test experiments and troubleshoot as directed by the engineering team, ensuring experiments align with project goals
