Parsons is looking for a talented Automation Principal Specialist (Infrastructure Projects) to join our team! In this role you will get to d evelops and implements methods and solutions to address complex challenges in digital engineering automation processes, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and high-quality outputs. Selects the most effective and economical approaches to achieve objectives while optimizing workflows and reducing manual effort. Utilizes advanced digital engineering techniques and analytical methods, with a strong proficiency in current engineering theories and practices. Plays a key role in driving automation benefits, such as improved accuracy, faster delivery, and streamlined processes.
This role requires expertise in developing software add-ons and custom tools to extend the functionality of existing engineering platforms. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java, as well as experience with APIs and scripting for BIM and CAD software packages. The specialist may act as a technical consultant in their area of expertise, providing strategic guidance to management or clients. Responsibilities often include leveraging advanced software tools and automation frameworks to enhance productivity and deliver consistent, reliable results.

Responsibilities
  • Develops and customizes software add-ons, scripts, and automation tools to enhance the functionality and interoperability of BIM and CAD platforms, streamlining processes and improving efficiency.
  • Design, develop, and maintain custom plugins, add-ons, and extensions for BIM ( Autodesk Revit and Civil3D) and CAD software to enhance functionality and streamline workflows.
  • Implement automation scripts and tools to reduce repetitive tasks and improve efficiency in BIM and CAD processes.
  • Conducts surveys, studies, and site investigations to identify opportunities for process optimization and automation, with a focus on integrating BIM and CAD technologies.
  • Recommends and prepares technical papers, presentations, and reports to communicate automation strategies, including the benefits of BIM and CAD integration.
  • Develop solutions to enable interoperability between BIM and CAD tools, ensuring smooth data exchange and collaboration.
  • Conduct rigorous testing of plugins and add-ons to ensure reliability, accuracy, and compatibility with BIM and CAD software updates.
  • Able to draft software requirements specification documentation with oversight.
  • Provide technical support and training to staff on using developed tools and add-ons.
  • Maintain and update existing automation tools to ensure compatibility with new software versions and project requirements.
  • Provide technical support and training to end-users on the use of custom plugins and tools.
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation, including user guides, technical specifications, and API references.
  • Ability to analyze code, evaluate quality, readability, and adherence to coding standards, and ensure UI/UX design quality.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in automation technologies and software development.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in BIM and CAD software, APIs, and industry trends.
  • Explore and implement emerging technologies such as machine learning, AI, and cloud computing to enhance BIM and CAD workflows.
  • Use version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage code and track changes.

Package and deploy plugins and tools for use by internal teams or external clients.

  • Monitor the performance of deployed tools and gather user feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Implement updates and enhancements based on user needs and evolving project requirements.
