QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering; Master’s degree or technical certifications (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Black Belt) strongly preferred.
  • 5–10+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing engineering role
  • 3+ years of experience of automation engineering, wire processing a plus!
  • Strong knowledge in wire processing equipment and techniques (crimping, cutting, stripping, and terminating machines)
  • Hands-on experience with automation technologies, robotics, PLCs, or related systems in a production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Standard Work, Six Sigma, value stream mapping, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Demonstrated career ambition with a track record of growth and increasing responsibility; highly promotable with the potential to take on broader leadership roles within a fast-paced, high-growth organization

Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

IEM is currently seeking an Automation Process Engineer with experience in wire fabrication, design specifications, technology and process expertise. The Automation Process Engineer will revolutionize/revamp our wire processing and assembly operations. In this role, you’ll lead exciting initiatives that elevate automation to improve our production capabilities.
This role will report into our Sr. Manager of Process Engineering. Travel will be required and dependent on project demands - ~30%

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, implement, and optimize state-of-the-art automated equipment and systems that transform how we process and assemble wire products. Your innovations will directly boost efficiency, precision, and quality across our operations.
  • Dive deep into existing processes to uncover inefficiencies and bottlenecks. Then bring your ideas to life by streamlining workflows, cutting cycle times, and reducing waste through smart, scalable automation solutions.
  • Take the lead on maintaining and upgrading our automated wire processing equipment. Work hands-on with vendors and service teams to ensure our systems stay ahead of the curve and perform at their best.
  • Collaborate closely with the process engineering teams and production teams to integrate automation seamlessly into daily operations. You’ll also train and support operators and maintenance staff, ensuring everyone is confident and capable with new technology.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to successfully integrate new automation solutions with our existing infrastructure to ensure sure everything works together in harmony.
  • Keep our automation systems aligned with company standards and industry regulations, with a strong focus on safety and quality.
  • Stay on the pulse of automation trends and wire processing technology. Bring fresh insights and lead initiatives that elevate our performance, reduce costs, and drive continuous improvement.
