We’re seeking an Automation Engineer for an exciting new opportunity supporting a medical device NPI project. Reporting to the Project & Automation Manager, the successful candidate will focus on the introduction of new assembly equipment, including moulding and automated systems, for a combination device.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • NFQ Level 8 Honors Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Diploma in a relevant technical discipline.
  • 3+ years’ experience in an automation engineering role with software development of PLC / HMI / SCADA platforms in a GMP pharmaceutical environment.
  • 3+ years’ experience with 21 CFR Part 11 requirements for automated systems in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • 3+ years’ experience with plant start-ups and/or new product introductions to medical device facilities, including the ability to lead these activities in a start-up environment.
  • Experience in qualification of control systems is essential.
  • Experience in auditing and internal inspection is advantageous.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and project management to all manufacturing operations and NPIs throughout the site.
  • Provide technical leadership of all control system activities in the medical device manufacturing facilities.
  • Take lead on control system qualification activities during project start-up.
  • In conjunction with IT/BTS, lead the integration of new systems to the Company Network.
  • Manage control system elements of new and continuous improvement projects; collaborate with process engineers and other departments.
  • Lead technical development of future integrations of control systems with MES/ERP/Data Historian (OSI PI) systems.
  • Manage life cycle of on-site control systems to SLC & applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support for all control system-related issues including daily troubleshooting, optimisation, and documentation control.
  • Adhere to and support all EHS & E standards, procedures, and policies.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage vendor qualification efforts, develop vendor relationships, and act as the Engineering representative for vendor documentation pre-approval.
