Description

Overview:
The Automation Specialist is responsible for ensuring the operational availability and reliability of our Automated Guided Vehicles and Conveyor systems. As an Automation Specialist, you will play a critical role in operating and troubleshooting our AGV fleet and multiple conveyors, working closely with Operations Management to optimize AGV performance and minimize downtime. This is a hands-on, physically demanding role that requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Available shift: Sunday-Thursday 10p-6a

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to AGV system alarms and errors, performing corrective maintenance and initial repairs as needed to minimize production impact
  • Manually override or complete the job the AGV unit failed to complete
  • Analyze data and assess vehicle performance
  • Monitor performance and change system parameters to meet operational needs
  • Track issues/repairs and utilize escalation process
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with AGV navigation, control systems, and communication networks
  • Conduct preventative maintenance (PM) activities, such as software updates, to ensure AGV reliability and performance
  • Identify and resolve inventory discrepancies between AGV and WMS systems
  • Identify and resolve physical inventory problems related to safety, storage and AGV systems requirements while adhering to safety procedures
  • Operate Sit Down and Reach forklifts safely while resolving inventory related problems
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and engineering, to resolve AGV-related issues and improve overall system performance
  • Utilize advanced computer skills to access and analyze AGV system data, perform software updates, and configure system settings
  • Collaborate with the Equipment Engineer to optimize AGV routes, improve efficiency, and reduce downtime
  • May be required to perform other warehouse functions

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year experience working within AGV systems, material handling equipment, or similar technologies
  • 3 years warehouse operations experience preferred
  • 3 years’ experience operating Powered Industrial Equipment preferred
  • Ability to:
  • Read, do basic mathematics, understand and respond to written and verbal instructions in English for the purposes of safety, work instructions, policies, etc
  • Input data into computer system(s) in use
  • Work overtime as assigned
  • Create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)
  • Ability to maintain Forklift Operator Certification
  • Work independently and as member of a team
  • Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized with excellent time management skills
  • Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices
  • May be required to operate manual and/or automated other warehouse/manufacturing equipment (such as a packaging line) (intermediate level) preferred
  • Strong technical background in electrical, mechanical, and software systems, with experience in troubleshooting and repairing complex systems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues
  • Must have Advanced computer skills or ability to learn and use AGV system software, programming languages, and data analysis tools
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain
  • Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs, including the ability to carry 20 lbs up and down stairs
  • Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach
  • Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours a day
