Description The detail/touch-up technician is responsible for inspecting and repairing minor imperfections on the exterior paint surface for various types of vehicles. The technician will provide excellent customer service and support in a fast-paced environment. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of materials, and an understanding of minor paint touch-up systems. Requirements Duties and responsibilities Inspect and Diagnose: Examine vehicle exterior for wear, minor paint damage, and potential issues. Repairs: Perform touch-up repairs on damaged exteriors utilizing available tools and paint products. Preparation and Finish: Clean and prep exterior areas, sand and buff, paint touch-up, and conduct quality checks to ensure repairs meet safety and quality standards. Customer Service: Communicate effectively with team members/customers regarding the vehicle's condition and provide clear explanations for recommended services. Compliance: Follow all safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe working environment. Documentation: Record all services provided, including repairs, replacements, and adjustments, in the shop's system or service tickets. Qualifications Education/Other: · High school diploma or equivalent required. · Valid driver’s license required. Experience: · One year of previous experience as an automotive touch-up technician is required. Skills: · Knowledge of automotive exterior surfaces and paint materials. · Familiarity with various paint products and techniques. · Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and painting machines. · Attention to detail and precision in repair work. · Good communication and customer service skills. Working Conditions · Work is typically performed in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and automotive chemicals. · Exposure to adhesives, solvents and other chemicals. · May require standing, walking, and lifting heavy objects.
