Description

An Automotive Electrical Engineer in an armored vehicle manufacturing company is responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining the electrical systems and components specific to armored vehicles. This role ensures that all electrical aspects meet safety, performance, and durability standards required for armored transportation.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in automotive electrical systems, CAN bus specifically. Experience with armored or specialty vehicle manufacturing will be an asset.
  • Experience with 12V, 24V electrical systems used in vehicles.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in automotive electrical design, wiring, and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of CAN bus systems, vehicle ECUs, and electronic control modules.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools and software such as OBD scanners and CAD-based electrical schematics.
  • Ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair vehicle electrical components, including lighting, communication systems, sensors, and control units.
  • Understanding of EMI/EMC standards for vehicle electrical systems.

Responsibilities
  • Experience with designing and troubleshooting CAN bus systems in either OEM design or new installations.
  • Develop wiring harnesses, schematics, and circuit diagrams to support vehicle modifications.
  • Design and develop electrical and electronic systems for armored vehicles, ensuring integration with existing vehicle architecture.
  • Select appropriate relays, switches, fuses, and connectors to meet safety and operational requirements.
  • Install and integrate specialized electrical components, such as emergency lighting, sirens, communication systems, and surveillance equipment.
  • Work closely with mechanical engineers and production teams to ensure seamless electrical integration.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing on electrical systems using tools such as OBD scanners, oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
  • Ensure proper grounding and shielding to prevent electrical interference in armored vehicles.
  • Identify and resolve electrical faults, wiring issues, and component malfunctions in armored vehicles.
  • Ensure all electrical components comply with safety regulations.
  • Ensure that all electrical systems adhere to safety and industry regulations, including EMI/EMC standards.
  • Perform quality control checks on completed electrical installations to guarantee reliability in high-risk environments.
  • Document test results, findings, and modifications for future reference.
  • Provide ongoing technical support for vehicle electrical systems.
  • Assist in repair and maintenance procedures to ensure long-term reliability of electrical components.
  • Train technicians and production staff on best practices for electrical system installation and troubleshooting.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies in vehicle electrification and armored vehicle electrical systems.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to wiring layouts, system efficiency, and electrical performance.
