Job Title: Automotive Equipment Service Technician In Training Job Description: Installs, inspects, and services automotive, electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment, including reels, hoists, lubrication systems, and air compressors. Ensures the highest level of customer excellence by providing expert technical support and maintenance solutions. What You’ll Do: 25%: Installs and tests equipment: Installs electronic, hydraulic and mechanical products and equipment such as air compressors, hoists, reels, lubrication equipment, waste oil equipment and other automotive equipment as directed. Programs and tests new equipment. Performs work in a safe and efficient manner. Operates construction/service vehicle, voltmeters, skid loaders, jackhammers, air compressors, concrete saws, air tools, hand tools and various other tools and equipment in the performance of described duties. 20%: Diagnose, Maintain, Repair: Troubleshoots equipment for proper operation as well as performs automotive lift inspections per ANSI/ALI ALOIM. 15%: Completes and updates paperwork and progress data: Completes work orders, time and expense reports and other paperwork for billing purposes. Updates Service Dispatch daily on the status of service work orders and service jobs. 15%: Manages inventory: Monitors and is accountable for accuracy of parts inventory on automotive service van including, but not limited to, transfers of parts to appropriate jobs/work orders and other automotive service tech as applicable as well as returns to warehouse facilities. Accountability for compliance with all required Service SOP procedures in place including but not limited to paperwork, time entry, warranty parts return and safety protocols. 10%: Operates and maintains a company vehicle. Ensures all deficiencies are reported and adheres to all rules for vehicle stewardship. 10%: Collaborates with other service technicians on servicing/repairing/installing equipment and other essential functions of the position. 5%: Other duties as assigned. Working Hazards: Works in an environment with potential exposure to fumes, dirt, noise, equipment movement dangers, vibrations, dangerous chemical/solvents, electrical shock, and inclement temperature extremes. Physical/Mental: Ability to perform heavy physical labor exerting up to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis and up to 50 pounds of force on a frequent basis performing such tasks as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping. What We’re Looking For: Education: Requires High School diploma or equivalent. Experience: 0-3 years of experience in mechanical systems, fuel systems, electrical systems, construction or related repair work experience is required. Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver’s license is required. Technicians must maintain a good driving record. Technical Abilities: Possesses strong electrical knowledge and exceptional mechanical aptitude. Proficient in operating mechanical equipment and machinery as required. Able to interpret and follow written, verbal, and diagrammatic instructions accurately. Demonstrates the ability to perform arithmetic calculations, including fractions, decimals, and percentages. Autonomy/Direction: Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Expected to work under intermittent supervision. Expected to gradually establish efficacy in the field, relying on senior technicians and supervisors less.
