JOB DESCRIPTION

* Remote: This position does not require employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee’s role enables them to work off-site on a permanent basis. This position requires an employee to cover territory visits to dealerships in a reoccurring frequency.*
Reporting to the Manager Field Performance, this role works with other Field Service Engineering Technician (FSE), located in the Ontario Region. As a FSE, you will provide onsite support and assist dealers with resolving vehicle technical issues. Additionally, you will support our Engineering and Legal departments performing Engineering and Safety Investigations and may represent GM in legal proceedings as a technical expert.
As a strong team player, you will interface with the Canadian Field Service Engineering Team, and cross functional global Engineering teams to diagnose and resolve vehicle issues.
Experience in dealer technical/service environments, exceptional vehicle diagnostic skills and staying up to date with leading edge vehicle diagnostics tools/methods are key to this role. This role requires the successful candidate to be on the road servicing dealers, and the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis. A company vehicle is provided for business purposes.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A high level of vehicle diagnostic skill and experience
  • Experience with GM Diagnostic Tools (MDI / GDS / Scopes, etc.)
  • Broad knowledge of vehicle systems including Electrical, Powertrain, Chassis, EV
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Strong analytical abilities combined with great decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong learner and ability to work in cross-functional team environments
  • Desire to stay at leading edge of new diagnostic tools and methods
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Willingness to travel frequently throughout Ontario
  • Ability to represent GM in legal proceedings
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Licensed Automotive Technician

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive experience in the automotive technical field (Certified Technician)
  • 10+ years working as a Licensed Automotive Technician
  • Knowledge of GM Service applications (SI, GDS)
  • Relevant advanced qualifications/Degree
  • French language as an asset
