GENERAL SALES MANAGER

Friendly Honda in Poughkeepsie is looking for a General Sales Manager to join their team. This role is responsible for customer retention and profitability of the sales department which includes: New and Used vehicle sales, and F&I success.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum two years of GSM experience with responsibility for the entire variable operation of a successful dealership.
  • Possess successful history of building and training a sales team, strong CSI scores and above average gross and net departmental profits.
  • Experience in Used Vehicle purchasing, merchandising and marketing.
  • Expertise in supervising the everyday efforts of desk managers and improving F/I income through mentorship and training.
  • Valid drivers license required

Responsibilities
  • Hires, trains, supervises and monitors the performance of the new- and used-vehicle department managers.
  • Meets with sales managers (new and used) to establish annual and monthly objectives for unit sales and gross profits,
  • Ensures that sales managers (new and used) understand dealership policies, procedures and sales systems.
  • Works with general manager to determine appropriate days’ supply for new and used vehicles and orders/acquires vehicle inventory accordingly.
  • Establishes standards for displaying, merchandising and maintaining new and used vehicles.
  • Establishes procedures for quick disposal of over-aged vehicles.
  • Issues all demonstrators and ensures that appropriate dealership records are maintained.
  • Meets with the general manager to review monthly forecasts, commission sheets, productivity reports, and the profit performance of each department as a whole and each salesperson individually.
  • Addresses customer complaints to ensure high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Creates systems that ensure ongoing sales training, including weekly sales meetings.
  • Makes sure facility is secure, well lit, and professional in appearance.
  • Maintains a professional appearance.
  • Mentor new and experienced sales reps on standard methodologies for improving performance.
  • Ensure proper follow up of all prospective buyers by developing, implementing, and monitoring a CRM system.
  • Establish delivery procedures and monitor performance and execution.
  • Guarantee delivery includes an introduction to the service department and scheduling of the first service appointment.
  • Achieve forecasted goals and objectives for dealership and OEM sales, gross, and key expenses on a monthly and annual basis.
