Qualifications Job Details: Join our team of Automotive Painters on 2nd Shift who strive to be the best in their field! Depending on education and experience, our starting rate is 20+ depending on background. Our 2nd shift will also receive a $3.00/hr shift differential. 2nd Shift schedule is 2:30PM – 12:45PM.   Position Summary: Under moderate supervision, assist painter to sprays surfaces of machines, manufactured products or working area with material such as black paint, enamel, glaze, or lacquer using spray gun. Loads and moves materials to work area, fills containers with prescribed quantities of paint and thinners. Cleans and prepares surface of articles to be painted, using solvent, sandpaper, and scraper. Essential Functions of the Job: Cleans grease and dirt from product, using materials such as lacquer thinner, soap and water or phosphatizing machine. Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated. Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain a smooth surface. Fills containers with prescribed quantities of paint and thinners. Operates spray gun, according to knowledge of painting technique, to direct spray onto work surface to apply primer or finish coat. Cleans spraying equipment, responsible for keeping the paint area clean. Applies primer to machinery. Sands primer or putty fillers with an air sander to obtain a smooth finish. Uses pressure washer with a phosphate acid to clean metal before applying a top coat May operate forklift or other material handling equipment to transport parts to designated areas. Responsible for movement of material or product and ensure documentation of standard inventory control processes or procedures. Responsible to inspect painted product to reduce scrap.   Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's): Ability to work with chemicals and solvent. Ability to work from verbal and written instructions. Reading and comprehension of work related materials. Must be physically capable of wearing a pressure demand respirator and any applicable personal protective equipment; ability to climb ladders; lift, push, pull 75 pounds alone. Ability to operate a sander, forklift, monorail, spray paint machines and high-pressure air hose. Able to distinguish colors; color acuity required. Ability to lift, push or pull 50 -- 75 pounds alone Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED certificate preferred. Minimum 2 years' experience in auto body repair/paint.
Responsibilities
Assist in spraying surfaces of machines and products with paint materials. Responsible for cleaning and preparing surfaces, operating spray equipment, and maintaining a clean work area.
