Job Summary:
The Shop Foreman is responsible for monitoring routine service on vehicles and for assisting technicians with diagnosing and completing repairs on customer vehicles. The Shop Foreman should be the most up-to-date person in the dealership about the technical aspects of vehicles. Works closely with the Parts Department and with the Service Advisors. The Shop Foreman is directly reporting to service manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee shop team and assist with controlling workload and work performed
  • Assist in the recruitment and evaluation of personnel, as needed
  • Monitor the quality of work performed, ensuring repairs are done according to recommended procedures and/or OEM specification
  • Assure that all time and repair details are obtained and recorded on repair order
  • Assist technicians with estimating repair times required for each repair order and follow up to ensure assigned work is completed within repair time estimates
  • Ensure effective communication with Service Advisors and Service Manager on any additional work required or delays encountered on work orders
  • Assist Technicians when difficulties are encountered in performing service work
  • Provide training and development opportunities (and recommend specialized training, as required) to Technicians, Apprentices and Helpers to manage various types of repairs
  • Review repair orders for completion and accuracy and collaborate with Service Advisor on incomplete or questionable orders
  • Inspect completed service work and conduct road tests on vehicles brought in for repairs
  • Coordinate with all contractors for building maintenance and repairs
  • Oversee the maintenance of tools, equipment and facilities as well as the safety, clean up and general housekeeping of the shop
  • Correspond regularly with Service Advisors on shop’s workload and capacity
  • Advise Service Manager if any new tools, equipment or replacements are needed

Qualifications:

  • Valid Ontario 310S license
  • Must be able to work and perform all kinds of diagnosis with minimal supervision
  • Valid Driver’s License with recent drivers abstract
  • General Service Department experience preferred
  • Able to establish and maintain good working relations with the team
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including walking, crouching, bending, regularly lift up to 25 lbs. and standing for extended periods

Experience:

  • Automotive repairs licensed Flat Rate Technician: 1-3 years (preferred)
  • Dealership: 2 year (Preferred)
  • Hyundai experience (Preferred)
