Role Purpose The Automotive Technician performs a full range of Courtesy, Hood, and Lube Technician responsibilities during each Full Service Oil Change. This hands-on role is responsible for ensuring that every vehicle is serviced safely, accurately, and efficiently—delivering an exceptional customer experience from entry to exit. Technicians play a key part in creating a clean, professional environment and upholding the Grease Monkey standard of care. Compensation Base Pay: $13.00–$15.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications) Bonuses & Commissions: Potential to earn up to $14.00–$16.50 per hour total based on performance metrics Pay Schedule: Bi-weekly Benefits Health, Dental & Vision Insurance – with employer contribution Paid Time Off (PTO) – including vacation and sick days Long-Term Disability Benefits Workers’ Compensation Coverage Employee Discounts Uniforms Provided – at no cost to the employee On-the-Job Training – includes paid Grease Monkey certification and safety training Additional Perks Career Growth: Opportunity to advance into Assistant Manager and Store Manager roles Locally Owned & Operated: Backed by operators with a long-term vision—not a corporate machine Hands-On Environment: Work with a supportive team in a fast-paced, high-energy shop focused on service, safety, and teamwork Key Responsibilities Courtesy Technician Duties Greet and prepare customer vehicles for service Place seat covers and floor mats; drive vehicles safely in and out of the service bays Perform light checks, check and set tire pressure, vacuum interiors, and clean windows and mirrors Inspect wiper blades and notify manager of issues or valuables found Reset oil indicator lights and apply service reminder stickers Present the finished vehicle to customers and thank them for their business Hood Technician Duties Perform all engine-compartment services during the oil change Check and fill all fluids including oil, transmission, coolant, power steering, and washer fluid Inspect and replace filters and emissions components as needed Conduct visual inspections of belts, hoses, and other visible components Add correct oil amount and perform safety/quality checks Lube Technician Duties Service the complete underside of the vehicle quickly, safely, and accurately Drain and replace oil; inspect plugs, gaskets, and filters for proper installation Grease chassis and gear boxes as applicable Perform additional services such as differential or fuel filter replacements as directed Conduct final leak and pressure checks Shop & Team Responsibilities Maintain clean, organized work areas and assist with general shop cleaning and maintenance Attend crew meetings and other duties assigned by leadership Support teammates across roles to ensure efficient bay flow and exceptional customer service Qualifications & Requirements Basic literacy and math skills required Ability to properly use mechanical hand tools and shop equipment Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate motor vehicles Strong attention to detail and customer service skills Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds and maneuver safely in and out of service pits Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and reach for extended periods Must be willing to work full-time, including Saturdays Must have reliable transportation Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in a quick-lube, automotive, or retail service environment Familiarity with oil changes, fluid checks, and basic maintenance procedures Desire to grow into Assistant Manager or Store Manager positions
