DESCRIPTION

The ideal candidate has over 3 years of experience in servicing vehicles. Also, the individual requires a 310S license or be working towards obtaining one of these accreditations. The perfect candidate is someone versatile, willing to work on different equipment individually or as a team, customer service focused and with a positive attitude.
A Vehicle Technician at Lopes is focused on servicing our diverse internal fleet. This position is responsible for diagnosing and repairing all types of maintenance issues in our vehicles, but also on trucks and other heavy equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of practical experience with motor vehicles and heavy equipment
  • Hold 310S license or ability to obtain it within 12 months of employment
  • Strong diagnostic skills and able to perform repairs to a variety of cars and equipment
  • Willingness to enroll in other apprenticeship; Must maintain membership/registration with respective Government Agencies
  • Proficiency in the use of trades tools
  • Current driver’s license class G or class 5
  • Basic computer skills preferred for data entry into maintenance systems
  • Ability to work in non-climate-controlled conditions
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions
  • Ability to work alone, under tight deadlines and prioritize tasks
  • Work safely and efficiently / Attention to detail

Responsibilities

FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform all levels of maintenance including but not limited to vehicle/equipment inspection, changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
  • Perform mechanical and general appearance reconditioning of equipment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the repair and diagnosis of – with some assistance: Engines (gas and diesel), power train to include differentials, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts, wheel ends, electrical systems including starters and alternators, HVAC systems, steering systems, engine bolt on items such as turbos, fan clutches, injectors, cooling system etc., brake systems, including ABS, suspension systems (spring and air).
  • Road test vehicles when necessary to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
  • Identify and determine parts required for repair of disassembled units
  • Identify warrantable repairs.
  • Maintain work area appearance and safety.
  • Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
  • Adjust and replace brakes, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
  • Raise trucks and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
  • Inspect and test defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.
  • Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by manager.
