MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of Audio/Visual systems, electronics, and types of media.
Knowledge of computer systems and software, including Windows and Mac OS, and the Microsoft 365 suite of applications.
Knowledge of show control software and coding strategies for kiosk interactives.
Able to troubleshoot and repair many types of electronics, cabling, connections, and equipment.
Able to read, comprehend, and analyze old and new system information.
Able to read plans, maintain equipment documentation and maintenance schedules, and to keep existing equipment functioning.
Proficient in the structured cabling of project, including: pulling, terminating and testing all cable and wiring associated with audio/video, control, and network cables.
Experience with complex AV systems, installation, testing, and maintenance of those systems, and problem diagnoses and repair.
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and experience with active communications between varied and diverse individuals and departments.

The Audio-Visual Specialist is responsible for building, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing complex AV systems, equipment, racks, and cabling in accordance with industry standards. They conduct routine preventive maintenance, troubleshoot operational issues, and coordinate interdepartmental efforts to ensure all AV components function optimally. This role also involves providing AV and logistical support for internal and external events, including setup, operation, and teardown of audio/visual systems for programs, events, livestreams, recordings, and other digital media needs. Collaborates with staff, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of programs and often supports high-profile audiences such as Board members and legislative officials. Additionally, the position assists in the design, programming, installation, and integration of AV systems, including rack preparation, system cabling, equipment mounting, and fabrication of custom panels. They evaluate vendor products, identify equipment needs, and support outsourced AV projects when necessary. The role requires continuous engagement with supervisors to improve performance, participate in professional development, and uphold standards of confidentiality, civility, and safety. Must adhere to administrative policies, complete mandated technology training, and maintain accurate timekeeping records. Strong communication, professional conduct, effective teamwork, and a proactive approach to both daily tasks and long-term projects are essential to success in this position.
