Reports To: Director of Public Safety
Position Overview:
The Assistant Director of Public Safety (ADPS) works as part of the Safety Operations team in an avalanche forecasting and supervisory role. Under the direction of the Director of Public Safety, the ADPS help to build daily avalanche hazard forecasts, develop hazards mitigation plans, implement and direct other staff in the implementation of the plans and record the results. The Assistant Director(s) of Public Safety are senior team members thus are responsible for mentoring other staff in all safety operations topics.
This is a full-time seasonal role working within the Safety Operations Department.
The incumbent should expect to be working outside in any, all and sometimes adverse weather conditions.
This position has a compressed schedule/two-week rotating cycle: Ten and a half (10.5) hours per day (operating season) and eight (8) or ten (10) hours per day (non-operating season) depending on operational needs. Alberta Employment Standards regarding probationary periods apply.
